Masala Lemonade is an easy and ideal drink for summers. It is a good source of preventing dehydration. This is one of the natural coolants like coconut water, sugarcane juice. Whenever we feel hot and enter the home from the hot weather I always prepare this masala lemonade.
Few people believe, masala lemonade and shikanji is the same thing. But if you observe, we don’t add any spices and any soda in shikanji. As masala soda name suggests, it is prepared with some basic spices and soda. I have added ENO (fruit salt) instead of soda which is a healthier option. But basic ingredients are: lemon, black salt, and sugar/honey are same.
Masala lemonade is very good for digestion as we use black salt, some mint leaves and roasted cumin powder. It is very helpful for gas and bloating problems.
Sugar 4 tbsp Lemon 3 ½ tbsp. Black Salt 1 tsp. Chaat Masala 1 tsp. Mint Powder ½ tsp. Water 2 ½ cup Ice Cubes 3-4
Squeeze the juice from the fresh lemon. In a jar, add lemon, sugar and ½ cup of water. Mix it well till sugar dissolves. Then add all spices except fruit salt (Eno) in the jar
Mix it very well then add water and some ice cubes. Stir it well and keep it side. When you are ready to serve then add Fruit salt and give a quick mix.
After adding the ENO, pour it into the glass immediately and garnish with some fresh mint leaves. Serve chilled.
1. If you don’t have roasted zeera powder then heat griddle add some cumin roast until it becomes smoky and grind with mortar and pestle and use as an alternative.
2. You can add honey or jaggery instead of sugar.
3. If you don’t have dry pudina leaves, you can add fresh leaves as well.
4. You can add club soda or lemon soda or any other soda instead of ENO. Just add either club soda or lemon soda then half of water quantity
