Jeera/ cumin Rice is very popular and easy recipe, which goes well with most of the north Indian dish. Since jeera rice is very mild in flavor, it can be eaten along with any dal, rasam, sambar or any gravy based curry.
Zeera rice can be prepared in over flame, Microwave or Rice cooker with same 2:1 ratio of water and rice.
Cumin rice can be on my in two different ways:
1. First tempered the cumin seeds along with other whole spices and ghee/oil. Once tempered pour the water, then add rice and let it boil.
2. First, boil rice with water and then tempered the cumin seed and whole spices and adds this tempered to boil rice.
Whatever the way you use, the end result is almost similar.
Rice 2 cups Bay leaves 1 Cumin Seeds 1 tsp Oil 2 tsp Cloves 2 Lemon juice 2 tsp. Salt 1 tsp Water 4 cups
Wash the rice till water runs clear. Soak the rice for 20-25 min, but not more than 30 min otherwise will not get fluffy rice. After 25 min drains the excess water.

Once cumin seed start crackling, add 4 cups of water. Add lemon juice
Add salt and let it boils. Once start boiling, add rice.
Cover it with lid. Once starts rolling to boil reduce the flame to low and let it cook for 8-10 mins or till water almost absorb.
Turn off the flame and let it stand for 5 min. then open the lid and garnish with cilantro.
