Green Chutney for Chaat/Cilantro Chutney

Green chutney is the most key ingredient of chaat and sandwiches. There are many variations in preparing green chutney depending upon the uses for chaat, pakoras or side dish. This green chutney recipe is very simple and easy to prepare using only 4 ingredient mint, cilantro, green chilies, and lemon.

This green chutney preparation is very handy for chaat (Dahi puri, dahi bhale, dahi papdi chaat) and sandwich.


  • Mint leaves 1 cup
    Cilantro 2 cups
    Green chilies 2no.
    Lemon juice 2 tbsp.
    Roasted cumin powder 1/8 tsp.
    Salt as needed
    Water as needed (2 tbsp.)


Step 1

Clean and wash the cilantro and mint, in the mixer grinder add mint, cilantro, and green chilies.

Step 2

Add lemon juice. Grind to make smooth consistency by using little water. Now add roasted cumin powder and salt. Mix it well.

Green chutney is ready to use or can refrigerate in the airtight container for 1 week.


  1. 1.Lemon is optional which gives tangy flavor and help to maintain the green color of the chutney.
