Home Made chole Masala powder: Chole Masala is the key ingredient to prepare authentic Punjabi chole, Pindi chana or any curry based on Chole/Chickpeas.  Chole masala may get from the store as well but homemade masala makes the recipe more tempting, aromatic and tasty.


  • Coriander Powder 1 tbsp.
    Cumin Seeds 1 tbsp.
    Pomegranate Seeds 1 tbsp.
    Black Cardamom 2
    Green Cardamom 4
    Black Peppercorn 8-10
    Cinnamon Sticks 1 (3’’) Sticks
    Nutmeg 1/2 (1/4 tsp)
    Star Anise 1 optional
    Cloves 4-5
    Dry Red Chilly 4
    Bay leaves 2
    Black Salt 1/2 tsp
    Ginger Powder 1/2 tsp.


Step 1

Place a pan over medium high heat, once pan getting hot reduce the flame to medium and then add all the whole spice except ginger powder.

Step 2

Dry Roast them until nice aroma comes. Then switch off the flame and let it cool completely.

Step 3

Transfer the masala to the grinder and make a fine powder. Then add ginger powder into it and mix it well.

Chole masala powder is ready to use in Chole masala


1. Masala should cool completely before grinding.

2. To remain it fresh always store in dark place and air tight container.
