Cabbage & Cheese Roll/How to make Cabbage and cheese rolls

As the name suggests, cheese and cabbage rolls filled with cheese and cabbage. This is healthy options for kids Tiffin, breakfast and teatime snacks.  Bread needs to be filled with any processed cheese (I prefer cheddar cheese), cottage cheese & cabbage and then baked in the Oven. It is one of instant and ready to prepare recipe.  You can fry the filled rolls in hot oil as well but that will absorb a lot of oil so I like the Baking method that makes it healthier.

Ingredients

  • Bread 6 Slices
    Cabbage 1 cup
    Cottage cheese 1/2 cup
    Cheddar Cheese 2 Tbsps
    Green Chilies 2 Nos
    Oregano 1/2 Tsp (Optional)
    Salt To taste
    Cilantro/Parsley 2 Tbsps.
    Melted butter 2 Tbsp

Method

Step 1

Remove the sides from the bread and roll it slightly with rolling pin. Cover it with damned muslin cloth and keep it aside for 7-8 minutes. In a mixing bowl add cabbage, Cottage cheese, and processed cheese. Mix it well

Step 2

Add green chilies, cilantro, salt and oregano mentioned. Mix it well & then divide the mixture into 6 equal parts. For slurry, add Maida and Water in a bowl and make a smooth paste. Now take a portion of cabbage and cheese mixture and put in the corner of bread

Step 3

Roll the bread till the end. Now dip the figure into slurry and apply to all the edges of bread

Step 4

Seal it Spread the melted butter in evenly to all the bread side

Step 5

Then arranged them on the baking tray. Bake them in a preheated oven at 200 degree Celsius (400 Fahrenheit) for 12-15 min or till they become golden brown.

Cabbage and cheese roll are ready to serve with hot ginger tea/coffee.

Notes

1. This recipe can be prepared by any bread (Sandwich bread are preferable). I used Whole wheat bread.

2. Baking time will be differing to oven to oven. The first bake for 12 min then check if required can bake 2- 3 more mints.

3. For best results, we should turn the bread sides after 8 - 9 min.
